BEHIND THE JOURNEY

ANNUAL OPIOID SUMMIT

We were honored to attend "Behind the Journey", Davie County’s annual opioid summit. This powerful event was eye-opening, educational, and deeply heartfelt—shining a light on the ongoing impact of the opioid epidemic in our community.

A heartfelt thank you to Somer Scardino, Davie County Health & Human Services, the Davie County Sheriff's Office, and our very own Leadership Davie Class of 2022 for their continued commitment to this important issue, as well as the many other individuals working hard every day to minimize this issue and support individuals through their recovery. Your efforts to raise awareness, share resources, and bring people together are truly making a difference.

A special thank you to the strong and incredible women who shared their stories at this event. Your courage and honesty help us reduce the stigma around addiction and give hope to those who are still struggling. THANK YOU!

A lifelong Mocksville resident, Rollins has always felt a deep connection to the town and its people. “I love Mocksville. I live here, grew up here, and I’m only a five-minute walk from Town Hall,” he said. “I was fortunate to be elected to the town council, where I served for two years, and was appointed to the community college board. The Davie Chamber is thrilled to introduce "Meet the Maker," a new addition to the monthly meeting series that highlights the incredible business leaders, innovators, and creators who shape our community.

This month will learn from T. Kyle Swicegood, Founder and CEO of the Swicegood Group, Inc. Kyle is a prominent figure in the real estate and auction industry. He has built a reputation for his unwavering dedication to his clients and his extensive knowledge of the industry. With a well-rounded background in commercial, residential, and land brokerage real estate, Kyle has helped clients with diverse assets, ranging from office buildings in Raleigh, NC, beachfront properties, to the classic American farm.

Each month, we are spotlighting a Non-Profit of the Month to help shine a light on their mission and support their cause. This month, we're rallying together for Family Promise of Davie County! The organization has promotional material at the chamber office and you will be able to engage with them at our monthly meeting.

NONPROFIT OF THE MONTH

FAMILY PROMISE OF DAVIE COUNTY

Family Promise of Davie County: Every family has promise and every child deserves a home

At the heart of every strong community is a shared commitment to care for one another, and Family Promise of Davie County exemplifies that spirit. This month, the Davie Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize Family Promise as our Nonprofit of the Month, honoring their dedication to supporting local families facing housing instability.

Since opening their doors in 2017, Family Promise has been a vital resource for families with children who are at risk of or already experiencing homelessness. Their comprehensive model focuses on three key areas: prevention services to stop homelessness before it starts, emergency shelter and case management for families in crisis, and stabilization support to help families remain housed long-term.
