Legislative Session Week 2: Real Estate Transfer Tax, Gift Card Bills & More

The 2024 legislative session is heating up as temperatures dropped over the weekend. Important issues that are being tracked this week relate to taxes, artificial intelligence, employment law, energy and more.

Following Week 1's discussions around rent control, easing restrictions on out-of-state medical professionals and unemployment for striking workers, this week, AWB will testify against a proposed real estate transfer tax and legislation targeting gift cards, among other bills.

Reminder: Chamber members still have time to register for AWB's Legislative Day & Hill Climb on Jan. 24, a an amazing opportunity to head down to Olympia and engage with lawmakers on your priorities.

Timing is key, as Jan. 31 is the cutoff to pass most bills out of legislative committees.
