Powering Utah’s Future: A New Era of Clean Energy Leadership

On July 22, 2025, Deseret News published a guest opinion by A. Scott Anderson, former president and CEO of Zions Bank, and Rep. Tyler Clancy, Utah House District 60, introducing the "Unleash Utah" coalition.Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for (audience)? Why should they care (benefit)? What do I want them to do (call-to-action)?

This new initiative brings together lawmakers, business leaders, and emerging conservative voices united by a common vision: to secure Utah’s place as a national leader in energy development, economic opportunity, and environmental responsibility.

Unleash Utah is rooted in the belief that Utah has the resources, innovation, and values to power America’s energy future. The state is currently seeing rapid growth in fields like AI, biotech, advanced manufacturing, and critical minerals. The coalition builds on existing state-level momentum, including Governor Spencer Cox’s “Operation Gigawatt” initiative—a plan to double Utah’s energy production in the next ten years. The effort signals a shift from reactive policy to proactive leadership in national energy security.

By aligning economic growth with clean energy innovation, Unleash Utah aims to create a model of conservative climate leadership for the nation.
