Breaking Glass - April 8
Fortune 2020 Businessperson of the Year recipient Cynthia (CJ) Warner will headline our Breaking Glass Leadership Series event next week.

As the leader of North America’s largest producer of biodiesel and other low-carbon fuels, Warner has more than 35 years of experience in the energy field with an extensive background in refining. She is determined to break down gender stereotypes and advocates for women and other underrepresented groups to ensure they are engaged and empowered in the workplace.

This session is set for 8:30AM on Thursday, April 8 on the Third Floor of the Commerce Center, sponsored by First Citizens Bank.

Tickets are $10 each for employees of Chamber member businesses and $20 for non-members. As a reminder, this is open for anyone to attend, male or female! A virtual option is also available.

Meet Our New Team Members!
It's an exciting week at the Chamber as we welcome two new employees!

Mackenzie Dorsey
Mackenzie joins us as the new Program Director. She is responsible for coordinating and facilitating Chamber events and serves as staff liaison to the Agribusiness, Band Festival, Program, and Worksite Wellness committees.

Mackenzie holds a Bachelor’s degree in strategic public relations from the University of Northern Iowa. In her free time, she enjoys visiting Mason City’s Central Park, catching up on local history, painting, and writing.  

Zoie Papouchis
Zoie, a Mason City Native, greets Commerce Center visitors and callers at the reception desk as the Service and Operations Associate. Zoie will work part-time to coordinate maintenance of the Commerce Center building and office supplies, schedule room rentals, and assist the North Iowa Builders Exchange.

She is a graduate of NIACC with a degree in the Associates of Arts. She spends most of her time painting commissioned canvases, and aspires to grow her hobby into a business over the next year. She also enjoys the outdoors and spending quality time with family.

Sign up for the Band Fest Parade!
The 82nd Annual North Iowa Band Festival is going to be here before you know it, and we are busy preparing for another fantastic event. Join the fun and participate in the big parade! While entries aren't due until May 10, the parade order is determined by date of registration. Any entries received after the deadline are welcome, but will be subject to a $25 late fee.
Government Affairs Update - Week 11
The second funnel deadline is this Friday, April 2nd; bills that fail to pass out of committee in the chamber opposite the one they originated in will no longer be eligible for consideration. Tax and
spending bills are exempt from the second funnel deadline. Committee work to ensure legislative priorities remain eligible will fill this week’s schedule.
