SWVA Food Innovation Hub Survey
The Town of Saltville has received a planning grant to gather information on establishing a Food Innovation Hub for Southwest Virginia. This hub has the opportunity to serve Southwest Virginia farmers and the community at large in many ways. We need your input! What would you like to see at this hub and what would help your farm, small business or family? A cannery, a commercial kitchen, commercial dehydrators? We want to hear all your ideas!

“I can’t run my business at full capacity because I can’t find staff.”
“A staff member is out AGAIN due to unstable child care.”
“I wish I could find a way to retain the staff I have and recruit more staff
Does any of this sound familiar?
At the Smyth County Chamber of Commerce, we know that staffing has never been this difficult. We also know how important it is for your employees to have access to high quality, stable child care services to support your business, working families, and the health of our economy in this region.
That is why we have joined forces with United Way of Southwest Virginia with a laser focus on what it takes to address this most urgent challenge...and why we want you to be a part of this critical work.
The Chamber and United Way are exploring how to launch new innovations which would support businesses in the region in providing child care benefits for their staff.
As we gather information and create a plan of action, we would appreciate your feedback in this brief survey. The survey will remain open until Friday, July 19, 2022.

Molly's Knob Challenge
October 8, 2022
8:00 am - 12:00 pm
This is not your average, flat 5K. This trail offers much more of a challenge because of the 1,000 plus feet elevation gain in the first 1.7 miles. The course is approximately 3.4 miles long so it is longer than most 5K runs. It begins at the Molly's Knob trail head and goes to the summit and back down again. Come and challenge yourself. The view from the top is worth it!
You can run, walk, or jog this trail. Sorry, no dogs allowed for the on Molly's Knob Challenge 5K Plus.

Each participant must provide a custom made (not commercially made) scarecrow and display that fits in a 3ft. X 6ft. area.
Scarecrows will be judged by the public online via Facebook (likes of each scarecrow’s photos - 1 Like = 1 Vote). Photos will be posted on Marion Downtown! Facebook page.
