Appalachian Sustainable Development (ASD) is increasing food access and supporting local small businesses by growing the Virginia Fresh Match (VFM) network through financial incentives, training, technical support and more. Farmers markets and retailers in Wise, Dickenson, Russell, Lee, Smyth, Grayson, Carrol, Wythe, Bland, Tazewell, Buchanan, Scott and Washington Counties in Virginia that currently sell or who are interested in selling fresh fruits and vegetables are encouraged to inquire by emailing Crystal Stafford, Food Access Coordinator at: [email protected] or by calling (276) 623-1121.

– Appalachian Sustainable Development (ASD) is inviting farmers and food producers in northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia to submit their FREE listing (also referred to as ‘registration’) for the 2022-2023 online Local Food Guide here: https://asdevelop.org/local-food-guide/. It’s that time of year again! Farm Fresh applications are now being accepted! You can print the application below to fill out and mail OR call 276-783-2598. Leave your name, phone number and mailing address to have an application mailed to you!
To qualify, you must be 60 or older, live in SWVA and meet income guidelines. Spots are limited and are first come first serve, so get your application in today.
One Pass Benefit
We are excited to announce that individuals with United Healthcare Community Plan are now eligible to go to a Fitness Center at no cost through our One Pass Benefit. The following fitness centers in Smyth County are participating with the program:
