Clean-Up Day ... and Award Ceremony ... Approaches
All systems "go" for the second annual Pockets of Progress citywide clean-up day. So far, approximately 75 people are expected to don the gloves and pick up trash and clean up areas to improve the aesthetics of our beloved town.

Details of the event have changed this year due to the pandemic. Pre-set teams pick up their supplies early and set out on their own on Saturday, Oct. 3. A representative of each group will inform organizers upon completion about details of their work for assessment purposes.

Meanwhile, the Chamber is nominated twice this year for awards from the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful group. The Chamber is cited for last year's Pockets of Progress event and for last year's Trash Art Competition, involving area students. READ MORE ABOUT THE NOMINATIONS.
Please check on any gathering in case it might be canceled.

NEWS IN BRIEF
Golf Fundraiser Big with Participants

The first of what might be other Golf Fundraisers was a success by various measurements.

The event brought in $10,241. That goes to the general operations budget and is very welcome in lieu of the other events that typically bolster the Chamber budget but that have been canceled or curtailed due to the pandemic.

Some 68 people rounded the links. Another 15 served as volunteers.

Specific amounts raised per sub-event during the day:
  • $200 – Tee off from the pink (women’s) box
  • $340 – Choose a rubber ducky from a duck pond with a random score for 1 hole
  • $865 – Silent auction

'Boo on the Bricks' Does a Disappearance Act This Year

The annual Halloween event "Boo on the Bricks" held in downtown Pauls Valley has been canceled this year due to Coronavirus concerns. The Chamber consulted with leaders in the business community, area schools and city officials to determine that the event did not ensure safety for children or the adults who would pack the downtown streets for the annual Halloween event.

Instead, the Chamber encourages children's parents and residents to determine what's best for participation in the holiday involving trick-or-treating based on familiarity and safety in their own neighborhoods. Typically both the downtown event and the neighborhood walks have existed together, but this year, the downtown part is canceled.
Job Postings Updated Weekly on Chamber Website
