APRIL 6 LUNCHEON WITH MINISTER BOISSAUNAULT, FEDERAL MINISTER OF TOURISM.
Our Executive Director was in Kelowna on April 6 to attend a luncheon with the Federal Minister of Tourism that was hosted by the Kelowna Chamber on the 2023 Federal budget. She was able to speak with the Minister and directly give him the letter our Chamber sent to his office last month. The Chamber is following up with his office as the Minister has asked for feedback from businesses. Watch for another update on this in our next newsletter. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES ENHANCEMENTS TO IMMIGRATION PROGRAMS. 
The federal government has announced enhancements to immigration programs, including a new economic pathway under the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) to help employers hire skilled refugees and displaced individuals, with a specific focus on tourism and hospitality workers. Additionally, temporary measures have been extended under the Temporary Foreign Workers Program (TFWP), including maintaining the maximum duration of employment for low-wage positions and permitting certain sectors, such as accommodation and food services, to hire up to 30 percent of their workforce through the TFWP for low-wage positions.

The Canada Digital Adoption Program is a 3-year program of the Government of Canada. The Chamber secured a private webinar exclusively for its members with Alacrity.
