Please Welcome Our Newest Member, Grump & Sunshine Bookshop!

Grump & Sunshine Bookshop is a new romance bookshop in downtown Belfast. Owner Cassidy Gintz, part of the mother daughter team that revitalized the Captain Nickels Inn in Searsport, is excited to see her dream of opening her own bookstore come to life.

The bookshop is named after a well-known romance trope where two characters who seem to be total opposites fall in love. The store will carry a variety of subgenres of the increasingly popular romance novels. There will be a wide variety of books and gifts too!

A grand opening and ribbon cutting will take place Monday, May 22nd at 9:30am.

The Hawthorne Hike is Here!

We all thought that the only elephants in Belfast were located at the Colonial Theatre, but we were wrong! In late 2020, Scott Smith of the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce discovered something very unique in the streets of our downtown - an elephant hiding in plain sight!

He walked the streets thoroughly to find the best path and along with Hartdale Maps, has created a new walking trail within our downtown! With respect to the large beloved elephant that already sits atop our city, the trail has been named the 'Hawthorne Hike.'

This new trail twists and turns through our downtown, our waterfront, our historic district, and brings a new and exciting activity for locals, visitors, and families to enjoy for years to come. Shops, architecture, history, homes and gardens, ocean and wildlife can all be seen! Full hike and Kids hike available.

Visit the Information Center for your own Hawthorne Hike Trail Map & Guide, follow the new Hawthorne Hike Facebook page, and share #hawthornehike online! You can also click here to download your own map!
