Improving Our
Community Together
|
Hagerstown Community College and Western Maryland Workforce Partners have been asked to develop a project to assist Hagerstown residents to move into gainful employment. This group is looking for input from local employers in regards to their hiring needs and identifying any potential roadblocks for prospective employees.
To accomplish this goal, we are asking local employers to take the brief survey by clicking the link below and provide the partners the feedback that is necessary to develop a plan to serve Hagerstown City and its residents. This information will also be helpful for future projects where we are serving the residents of Hagerstown and the surrounding communities.

This month, we will focus on the value-add components that APPI Energy provides our clients as it relates to energy supply contracts. We’ve found that as with most contracts, these can be cumbersome. In an effort to make this content more digestible, we often provide a terminology “cheat sheet” so our clients (and your members) know key areas to focus on as they review contracts, either from us or from other brokers and suppliers.
Attached are the abridged and full versions of these term sheets, as well as a link to an article on the topic HERE.

A Helpful Article From The BEP Committee
|
|
Our Business and Education Partnership Committee has an interesting article to share with you this month:
|
Many of us routinely have the need to communicate effectively whether opening or closing a seminar, delivering a sales pitch, requesting funding, participating in performance evaluations, etc. Compelling conversations such as these require having a great impact in a short time frame. In a leadership seminar held by Impact® International, the speaker shared the “2 x 3 Technique” for effective communication.
This simple technique focuses on identifying 2 points you want to make as the speaker and using 3 actions to effectively deliver those 2 points. It works like this:
1. Identify 2 points you want to get across to your audience, and
2. Use the following 3 actions to deliver those points.
a. Open by headlining the 2 points you’ve decided on,
b. Make each point a bucket, and fill the each bucket with facts, information and justification (what, how and why) to support those two points.
c. Recap the 2 points you started with.
This technique works very well to ensure you stay focused on your topic at hand, leave your audience with something memorable, and will allow you to do so in a very short time frame.
Give it a try!
