Wisconsin Singers to perform at Roncalli High School April 7

Roncalli High School, part of Roncalli Catholic Schools, will again soon be hosting the Wisconsin Singers for another high-energy performance you won’t want to miss! The performance also will feature the local talents of Roncalli Middle School students and members of Treehouse Theater.

Wisconsin Singers, the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s premier Broadway-caliber touring production, is taking the stage at Roncalli High School for its 56th season show, “When Opposites Attract” on April 7 at 3 p.m. The show, open to the public, will take place in the Zimmer Auditorium within the Fine Arts Center at Roncalli High School, 2000 Mirro Drive in Manitowoc.

The new original 90-minute show, performed by unpaid full-time UW-Madison students collectively studying more than 24 majors, features captivating vocals, stunning choreography and the electrifying 10-piece Wisconsin Singers student band.

Audiences will hear more than 40 songs in this fast-paced show, including top hits from artists like Tina Turner, Queen, Dolly Parton, Michael Bublé, and more. Numbers from “Hamilton,” “Wicked,” “Some Like It Hot” and other award-winning Broadway musicals also will be included. The Wisconsin Singers’ band will showcase its special blend of jazz, funk and classic rock. Get ready to be blown away by the talents of these performers during this entertaining show!

“Manitowoc is such a welcoming and community-focused city, and we absolutely love working with the more than 60 energized and excited students in our pre-show workshop before watching in awe as they light up the stage with performances from the musicals they have been working on,” says Abby Pritzl, executive Producer of the Wisconsin Singers. “Seeing so many students impacted by the arts and music in one day is such a rare experience – we can't get enough!”

Rachel Moldenhauer, a third-year singer/dancer with Wisconsin Singers, says the experience has been everything she imagined it would be and more!

“Not only have I been able to keep performing at such a professional level, but I have been able to meet a group of amazing individuals who were equally as passionate about performing,” she said.

Moldenhauer enjoys working with the youth she encounters as a member of Wisconsin Singers and sharing the knowledge she has gained from the experience.

“It is important for young performers to understand that passion and hard work can take you far” she shared. “Passion is what fuels a performer. It’s why we do what we do. Hard work allows you to take your passion to new heights. People enjoy working along hardworking individuals who help make a group better. My passion and hard work are two things that have helped me become the performer I am today.”

She also sees herself in the young performers she meets.

“I was once that age looking up to individuals who were in my current position. To be able to be that role model for younger performers and instill passion for performing in them is honestly one of my biggest goals,” Moldenhauer said.

This year, the Wisconsin Singers show will open with performances from Roncalli Middle School and Treehouse Theater. Students from Roncalli Middle School will stage numbers from their recent spring musical, “Footloose,” including numbers you know and love, while Treehouse Theater will give the audience a glimpse of their upcoming run of “Disney and Cameron MacIntosh’s Mary Poppins Jr.” coming to the Capitol Civic Centre in Manitowoc April 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. and April 20-21 at 2 p.m.
