Entrepreneurial 'Meet & Greet' at Game On!

The Entrepreneurial Leadership Council, a committee of the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce, will hold its second entrepreneurial 'Meet & Greet' on Monday, November 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Game On! Canaan Powell named winner of $300 gift card

The Huntington Bicycle Shop (HBS) held an After Hours on Tuesday, October 24 to celebrate the bike shop's third anniversary of business. During the event several people visited the shop, enjoyed some refreshments, checked out the bikes, accessories and even had an opportunity to ride some of the bicycles. The e-bikes were for sure the hit of the evening.


At the end of the event, a ticket was drawn for one person to win a $300 gift card from the bike shop. Canaan Powell's name was drawn as the winner of the gift card.

Potempa to lead Parkview Wabash, Huntington

In a newly expanded role, Debra Potempa, left, will lead both Parkview Wabash Hospital and Parkview Huntington Hospital. As market president, Parkview Health South, Potempa will oversee care for communities throughout Parkview’s southernmost service area.


The new Parkview Health South market will further connect Parkview Huntington Hospital and Parkview Wabash Hospital to optimize care delivery.

Lindsey Griggs joins the Pathfinder team

Pathfinder is pleased to announce the appointment of Lindsey Griggs as its new Director of Residential Supports. With a decade of experience in social work and residential services, Griggs brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to lead the organization in ensuring the well-being and success of individuals in the Residential program.


Griggs holds a social work degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and has dedicated herself to helping those in need, particularly in the areas of mental health, domestic violence and homelessness.

Tim Armstrong, EA, and Valerie Juillerat, AFSP, of EPCO Accounting & Tax Services recently attended a three day conference at the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) 2024 Tax Forum in Orlando, Florida for continuing education classes.


"Staying up-to-date on current and new tax laws is critical as a tax preparer," stated Juillerat.


Armstrong and Juillerat attended classes that included the Annual Federal Tax Refresher, Understanding Trusts and Trust Filings, Deferring Capital Gains Tax, Ethics and Due Diligence, Analyzing Personal Casualty Gains and Losses and Responding to IRS Collection and Audit Letters.

New Life Meal Ministry still serving needs

The New Life Community Meal Ministry is the first ministry of New Life Ministries, and it has been serving the community of Huntington since 2007.


This holiday season New Life Ministries is excited to celebrate with the community by hosting a Thanksgiving Dinner at the New Life Community Meal Ministry. This meal will be on Wednesday, November 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. For this special dinner the ministry will be offering both dine-in or carry-out meals. For more of the story click here.

Blue Sky to hold Customer Appreciation Month

Blue Sky House of Pancakes has declared the month of November as their Customer Appreciation Month. There will be special offerings throughout the month.


Starting in November, all coffee will be .99 cents until 3 p.m.


Blue Sky House of Pancakes will host a Thanksgiving breakfast to Huntington County residents as a way to show their appreciation to all their customers. Patrons can enjoy a 'free' breakfast Thanksgiving morning with the purchase of any drink. Choice of breakfasts include a short stack of pancakes; Belgium waffle; two eggs, potatoes and toast or two pieces of French toast. All specials are from 7 to 11 a.m. The restaurant's hours will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Heritage Pointe residents visit Quayle Center

It’s not widely known, but it is an impressive distinction all the same. Indiana boasts the second-highest number of U.S. Vice Presidents claiming it as their primary state of residence and/or birth.


With a deep interest in our nation’s history and Indiana’s many significant contributions, residents of Heritage Pointe of Huntington were excited to visit the Quayle Vice Presidential Learning Center and Museum last week.

Dining with Diabetes begins November 8

Purdue Extension Huntington County will offer Dining with Diabetes classes beginning November 8 at 12 noon. This series will be held for four consecutive weeks on November 8, 15, 22 and 29. The classes will be held at the LaFontaine Center in Huntington. The cost for this program will be covered by a grant received by the Huntington County Health and Wellness Coalition.


This program is for individuals with diabetes, or those at risk for diabetes and their caregivers. The program is also helpful for friends and family members of those with diabetes or individuals interested in diabetes. In this program, you will learn how to reduce the health risks of diabetes. Topics covered include food choice, diet planning, healthy cooking, portion control, medical indicator awareness and healthy activity levels for those with diabetes. Participants will be served a light meal with new recipes to try and take home.

Veterans Days parade, celebration November 11

The annual Veterans Day parade will be held on Saturday, November 11. The parade will begin at Huntington North High School at 10 a.m.


The parade will travel east on MacGahan Street to N. Jefferson Street and south to E. Park Drive. The parade will then turn west on E. Park Drive and end at the Veterans Memorial at Memorial Park. Following the parade a Veterans Day celebration will be held at the Veterans Memorial at the park.

Annual Designer Purse Bingo, November 14

The Quayle Vice Presidential Learning Center will hold its popular Annual Designer Purse Bingo Night fundraiser on Tuesday, November 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Huntington PAL Club, 2099 Riverside Ave. The doors open at 5:30 p.m.


Beginning on October 13, advance group sponsorship tickets will be available for $25 each when bought in blocks of eight or more. Individual tickets for the general public will go on sale starting October 21. General public tickets will be $30. Remaining tickets will be $35 at the door on the day of the event as space is available. Seating will be limited. Tickets will be available through the Quayle Center.

Historical Society to meet November 15

The Huntington County Historical Society will hold the next meeting on Wednesday, November 15 at 7 p.m. The evening will include the annual meeting of members and election of officers and board members for 2024.


The HIM Singers, directed by Lee Ann Smith, will perform musical selections as part of the program. Also featured will be the presentation of the Virginia Miller Award. This award is presented by the Society each year to an individual, individuals or groups that have made significant contributions to local historical preservation.


The evening’s discussion with the members of the Society will include projects such as a new museum location, financial opportunities and a wide-ranging board of directors’ review of the Society’s services and programs. The current director of the Huntington County Historical Museum, located at 315 Court Street, is Barbara Rupley. Board officers include Christ Whitacre, president; Bruce Lemar, vice president; Amy Richert, secretary; Steve Hart, treasurer and Gib Young, immediate past president.

New Life Ministries annual auction November 16

New Life Ministries invites you to join them on November 16, for their Annual Benefit Auction. Come enjoy a meal, hear how New Life Ministries has made an impact in 2023, and bid on some great items and experiences to help support the work they are doing in the community. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the event begins at 6:30 p.m.


Like years prior, they will be holding a free, online portion to kick off the Annual Benefit Auction. The online portion of the Annual Benefit Auction will take place from November 13 at 9 p.m. through November 15 at 9 p.m.

Lights to Remember event is December 3

Holiday season can be a difficult time for people who are missing loved ones who have passed away. Remembering them in the company of others who have gone through similar loss can provide comfort and fellowship.


Parkview Huntington Hospital and the Parkview Huntington Foundation will host an event to offer that comfort on Sunday, December 3, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. “Lights to Remember” will take place in the hospital’s main lobby at 2001 Stults Road in Huntington.
