Research has shown that money spent with local businesses generates almost 5X more revenue than with larger corporate competitors. A great way to show your support is the upcoming initiative called; #TheBigSpend is a one-day, buy local event designed to help revive Canada’s economy.
On July 25, take action & help the nation’s post COVID-19 rebuilding process.
We are also starting
#shoplocalsunday
in order to open businesses on Sunday to encourage the Pipline workers who are in the area to shop locally. We would like to inform them of the stores that are able to open and their hours of operation. Please email us if you would like to participate and are able to open your doors on Sunday.

If there has been anything positive coming out of this global pandemic, it is that we are focused more than ever on keeping our money local and supporting our friends, family, and neighbors by shopping local. And with good reason. There has never been a more important time than now to support the businesses in our community who keep much needed services in town, offer employment, and give back to our community by way of sponsorships and donations.
It is however a challenge for many local businesses to safely and affordably open their doors. There are many ways you can still support these businesses, including buying gift certificates, pick-up orders, support them on social media etc.. And, there are many grants and funding opportunities in place to support small businesses through this time. Visit
COVID-19 and Business

, including the Canada United Small Business Relief Fund - an initiative created to help businesses get ‘back to business’. This initiative has been created to help small Canadian businesses with their recovery efforts as a result of COVID-19. During this time of business uncertainty, we understand that finances are tight. That is why the Vanderhoof Chamber of Commerce is offering our renewing and new members the option to pay your membership fees over three months. Call to talk with Lesley on how we can support your business through this time.
And a reminder that our membership runs on a 12 month basis. For example, if you join in May 2020 your membership is good to May 2021. We feel that this method supports our members best so that everyone gets the most out of their membership.
