July 2021
Director's Note
Happy July!

The Vanderhoof Chamber of Commerce is excited to see our beautiful province move to Step 3 of BC’s Restart: A Plan to Bring Us Back Together. This means increased social contact, personal gatherings return to normal for indoor and outdoor gatherings, no limits for indoor or outdoor dining and events are allowed. Offices and workplaces continue to have staff return to the workplace and seminars and bigger meetings are allowed. These are some of the many benefits that Step 3 has to offer and we are encouraged to see tourism and business activity flourish in our community.

We hope you have had the pleasure of meeting our new office staff of Philip, Amanda and Vincent. I know they have been out trying to meet our members and continue to advance the #mystreetmyneighbout initiative. If you have not had the opportunity to meet them, please stop by our office at 158 West Stewart Street.

We have some exciting Chamber luncheon’s coming up and I encourage you to attend. We will be sending out notices on them soon.

Have a safe and happy July.

Twyla Hale, Chamber Director
BC'S RESTART STEP 3
We are in Step 3
The criteria for Step 3 is at least 70% of the 18+ population vaccinated with dose 1, along with low case counts and declining COVID-19 hospitalizations. In Step 3, all sectors will transition to using communicable disease prevention guidance from WorkSafeBC.
Mask guidance
Masks are recommended in indoor public places for all people 12 and older who are not yet fully vaccinated. The mask mandate order under the Emergency Program Act was lifted July 1.
  • You're fully vaccinated 14 days after dose 2
  • Masks are optional for children aged 2 to 12
  • Children under 2 should not wear masks
  • Proof of vaccination does not need to be requested by service providers
  • Some people may choose to continue to wear a mask after they're fully vaccinated and that's okay

Events
BC Chamber of Commerce.

About this event:
This is a new course in Building Resilience to Thrive, which introduces new concepts to help your business with recovery, resiliency, and growth. This course will be relevant to individuals/businesses that took the first course in the program as well as those that have not participated in the program yet.

Developed in partnership with the University of Victoria, Gustavson School of Business, the new Building Resilience to Thrive – Business Foundations online course will take you through how to build a resilient business using case studies, contemporary research, and practical experience.

This 6-week course will examine the fundamental building blocks of great business: strategy, marketing, people, and processes, presenting new material you won’t want to miss! Better position yourself, your team, and your business for the future by building back stronger with strategy.

The course will run Wednesdays from July 7 to August 11, 2021, 11:00AM – 12:00PM PDT, and you will receive a certificate upon completion. A $700 value, at a fraction of the cost!

Late registration will be accepted until July 12, 2021 at 8am. However, in order to receive a certificate, attendees must attend a minimum of 5 out of the 6 sessions.
Membership Fee Support
During this time of business uncertainty, we understand that finances are tight. That is why the Vanderhoof Chamber of Commerce is offering our renewing and new members the option to pay your membership fees over three months. Call to talk with Philip on how we can support your business through this time.

And a reminder that our membership runs on a 12 month basis. For example, if you join in June 2021 your membership is good to June 2022. We feel that this method supports our members best so that everyone gets the most out of their membership.
