The first Surf City Dine Week kicks off late January as part of a campaign to provide residents with the newest way to get acquainted with local restaurant cuisine. 

Huntington Beach is home to more than full-service 350 restaurants, and that number continues to grow. The Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce brought restaurants together to offer you a special dining experience starting Monday, January 21 and ending Sunday, January 27. Not only does Dine Week have a charity partnership with Bracken’s Kitchen, it is also a great opportunity to get out and try local restaurants with prix-fixe menus. Restaurants provide lunch pricing at $11, $16, $21, and dinner pricing at $21, $31, and $41. Each meal includes a $1 donation to Bracken’s Kitchen. 

This year, each meal purchased from a prix-fixe menu includes a $1 donation to Bracken’s Kitchen, an organization dedicated to recovering, re-purposing, and restoring both food and lives. In its simplest form, Bracken’s Kitchen attempts to combat both childhood hunger and hunger in Orange County by delivering hot and nutritious meals in a fun and dignified manner. The program serves the highest quality and most nutritious meals that their clients will get all week.

As Huntington Beach continues to make its mark as a worldwide tourist destination, the chamber wants the residents to re-experience their hometown restaurants. With a unique menu created specifically for Dine Week, even longtime favorites can be re-imagined with a whole new meal. 

Dine Week allows special visibility and recognition to participating restaurants and affords them the unique opportunity to grow their business. All participating restaurants receive social media coverage of the restaurant on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and a placement of the restaurant’s logo, restaurant name, address and contact information on the Participating Restaurants Directory on the Surf City Dine Week website, a link to the prix-fixe menu, and save-the-date cards at the location to promote Surf City Dine Week.

In addition to growth through visibility, visitor statistics show marked growth in business for restaurants that participate in their local restaurant week. According to statistics from Visit California, 89 percent of diners are likely to return to their last dine week restaurant, 91 percent of diners are likely to recommend their last dine week restaurant to a friend or family member, 75 percent of diners participate to try a new restaurant, and 53 percent of diners participate more than once during their respective restaurant week. 
The sign-up fee to participate in Surf City Dine Week is $400, or $100 if you are a member in good standing of the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce. Once you have registered, you will be required to create a prix-fixe lunch and/or dinner menu(s) to be served throughout Dine Week - Monday, January 21 through Sunday, January 27. Lunch should have three separate options priced at $11, $16, and $21, and dinner should have three separate options priced at $21, $31, and $41 (this does not include alcohol, tax or tip). Participating restaurants must complete your prix-fixe menu by January 10, 2019 and send it in PDF format to surfcitydineweek@hbcoc.com .

The chamber believes Dine Week is a prime opportunity to increase sales during an off season for restaurants, and potentially increase customer loyalty by providing a new dining experience to loyal and new diners.

Thank you for being a dedicated contributor to the Huntington Beach community. We are currently seeking raffle and auction donations for our annual fundraiser, The Gala, and hope you can make a donation this year to assist our efforts.

The Gala is a casino-themed fundraising event to kickoff our new location and business hub at Golden West College, featuring dinner and a night of music, dancing, raffles, auctions, blackjack, poker, roulette, and craps. All proceeds benefit the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce, a 501(c)6 non-profit organization dedicated to helping business grow, serving the visibility needs of Huntington Beach business, promoting a thriving economy, and fostering a strong sense of community.

Raising funds allows our organization the opportunity to create new programming in business education and development. This action gives us the unique privilege of facilitating a more viable, long-term economy for our community. A huge portion of funds raised at our events come from raffle ticket purchases and auction item sales. If possible, please consider donating a raffle or auction item for the night of our event. In the past, we have included items such as jewelry, electronics, gift cards, airfare, getaway trips, themed baskets, autographed memorabilia, and event tickets.

Additionally, you can show your support by attending The Gala on Friday, Feb. 1 at the Waterfront Beach Resort, a Hilton Hotel. Ticket sale proceeds go toward the organization and allow us to further develop our business education and advocacy programs and resources.
