September 2023 Newsletter

September Chamber Newsletter

September is a big month for the Chamber as the 25th Annual Chamber Golf Classic takes place on September 20, 2023 at Laurel Hill Golf Club.

The Annual Chamber Golf Classic is the main fundraiser for the Chamber’s Scholarship Fund. For more than twenty years this popular event has provided $275,000 in scholarships for local high school students to study business.

In addition to the Chamber Golf Classic, we also have our Business Breakfast on September 14th followed by our Fireside Chat on the 26th and the September Hello! Happy Hour on the 27th. You can find more information on these events below.

We'd like to give a special thank you to Matt Moore, Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, for hosting our Hello! Happy Hour last month. In addition to a great networking time, school supplies were collected to support Supervisor Storck's back to school event. You can learn more about Matt's focus areas when it comes to financial advising at www.edwardjones.com/us-en/financial-advisor/matt-moore.

Thanks to FASTSIGNS of Springfield and owner Marissa Eyron for inviting the Chamber to their 5th Anniversary celebration. Almost 60 people filled the production center and saw first hand some of the amazing signs they make. If you wonder if it can be done, just ask FASTSIGNS.

Addressing Northern Virginia Panhandling

Recently Supervisor Herrity and Prince William County Supervisor Jeanine Lawson hosted a Town Hall meeting to discuss services, solutions for improved public safety, and solicit feedback from residents. Over 1,800 residents attended this virtual town hall and the producer noted that they received more resident feedback than they had for any other town hall they have hosted. Overwhelmingly, residents wanted something more done about panhandling. You can view the townhall by clicking here.

If you think Fairfax County should pass an ordinance to address panhandling, you can sign the petition by clicking here.
