Chamber Supports Reigniting the Local Economy
The Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce has forwarded a letter of support to the Sedgwick County Commission for reopening and reigniting the regional economy. Encouraged by recent discussions held with County leadership and Kansas Governor Laura Kelly, the Chamber is committed to moving the economy forward and supports easing current personal and business restrictions. Wichita's Recovery from Two Black Swan Events
What does a W-shaped economic recovery look like? Jeremy Hill from the the  Center for Economic Development and Business Research  shared his insights along with Stan Longhofer of  Wichita State University  today about what we can expect in the coming months as we recover from two black swan events: work stoppage associated with the 737 Max and the impact of COVID-19. President Trump signs CARES Act Expansion, additional Paycheck Protection Program applications being accepted as of Monday morning
President Trump signed an expansion of the CARES Act that was originally passed on Mar. 27, 2020. The expansion included additional funding for the Paycheck Protection Program, which ran out quickly due to high demand. If businesses are considering applying, they are encouraged to do so as soon possible as these additional funds are expected to run out quickly.

Notice: PPP Resumes on April 27, 2020
The SBA  will resume accepting Paycheck Protection Program applications from participating leaders on Monday, Apr. 27, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. CST.

NexUS Health Plan Virtual Information Session | Apr. 29
Beginning in November of 2019, the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce introduced NexUS Health Plans as a unique health benefits program designed for Chamber members. Employers who are interested in learning more about the NexUS program, the plan offerings, and next steps for enrollment should attend this NexUS Information Session. NexUS representatives will be available to answer questions via Zoom.
 
Good Deeds in Hard Times
Credit Union of America donated $25,000 to the Kids Eat Free program, which allows USD 259 to continue to provide meals to students this spring. They presented the check to Superintendent Dr. Alicia Thompson last week while practicing social distancing. See the video here
