July 8, 2021
July 2021 - the month set aside to celebrate America.

Who doesn’t love the 4th of July? If there is one holiday that we all understand and all celebrate together, it is this one. After the past year, I imagine the 4th of July might become a favorite.

As George W. Bush stated in a presidential address on July 4th, 2001 “ America has never been united by blood or birth or soil. We are bound by ideals that move us beyond our backgrounds, lift us above our interests and teach us what it means to be citizens of this great country.”

And that - Chamber friends and newsletter readers - is all she wrote this month.

Enjoy the summer 2021. I look forward to seeing you at the Thursday Promenades celebrating friendship, freedom and life.

Sincerely,

Catherine Somers
Executive Director

Volunteering at the Promenades...
We'd love your help with our Thursday Promenades. We need Ambassadors to be out and about at several locations to answer questions (When do the bands start? Which bands are playing? Where are the restrooms? etc) and help to help ensure that the event goes smoothly.

PGE Business Incentive Programs
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and other utilities were directed by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) in 2020 to conduct rotating power outages to relieve strain on the power grid during a statewide heatwave.
Rotating outages are possible again in 2021 and we want all our customers to be prepared. Generous incentives from programs like the Base Interruptible Program are available for customers who can reduce their electric load during times of high grid stress and other emergencies.
  • Base Interruptible Program: PG&E’s Base Interruptible Program (BIP) pays you to reduce your electricity consumption to a predetermined level when energy supplies are short.
  • Emergency Load Reduction Program: PG&E’s Emergency Load Reduction Program (ELRP) offers financial incentives for participants to reduce their energy use during times of high grid stress and emergencies, with the goal of avoiding rotating outages while minimizing costs to customers.
