NEW GRANT FUNDING TO EXPAND OUR TEAM FOR ECONOMIC RECOVERY
Our Chamber has been awarded a total of $63,500 from ETSI-BC which will fund two part-time recovery advisor positions for the next 12 months. The first position is a continuation of Revelstoke's Business Outreach Contractor which was previously spearheaded by Community Futures Revelstoke. The second position is a Pandemic Response Project Support Worker, to maximize the value of feedback from our businesses and to help deliver targeted programs and projects to aid recovery.

#TAKEOUTREVY SUCCESS
Community support was strong for our restaurants.
Over $6250 in vouchers was generated for local restaurants through the #TakeOutRevy campaign!

Tourism Revelstoke and the Chamber wanted to do something special for Revelstoke's local restaurants when indoor dining was closed on March 29, 2021. We partnered together and launched the #TakeOutRevy campaign.

A RECOVERY PLAN FOR JOBS, GROWTH, AND RESILIENCE
On April 19th the federal government released the 2021 federal Budget. The 700+ page document outlines a wide array of measures touching virtually all areas of the economy. The budget projects a staggering deficit of $354 billion. In total, nearly $700 billion of new debt is projected between 2019 and 2025.

In addition to extended important business support such as the wage subsidy, Budget 2021 introduces a new hiring program that will help businesses accelerate economic recovery. The Budget also outlines a number of positive investments for British Columbia that should pay dividends over the long-term including new funding for childcare, an additional $1.9 billion for the National Trade Corridors Fund, needed investments to support housing construction, helping businesses digitize, and the creation of a new regional development agency for British Columbia. Click here to learn more.

KICKING HORSE CANYON UPDATE
Kicking Horse Canyon Constructors (KHCC) has been implementing extended (24-hour, multi-day) closures on Trans-Canada Highway through the Kicking Horse Canyon Phase 4 construction site throughout April and will continue to do so through much of May. KHCC will move to intermittent daytime lane closures on May 15 and 16, with overnight full closures on those dates. KHCC will then resume the full extended closure between 7:30 a.m. (MDT) Monday May 17 and noon on Friday May 21. There will be no closures during the May long weekend (May 22-24), and the full extended closure will be back in effect from noon on May 25 until noon on May 28. Click here to learn more.
