THE CHAMBER IS RUNNIN' HOT.
Greetings, dear members and colleagues.
We realize that it’s a busy time of year for many. Between Business Excellence Awards, amazing Marketing Opportunities for 2022, contributions for content to our Ambassador Program, and Engagement sessions, we’ve sent out a flurry of communications in the past few weeks. This is a reflection on the mountains of work that we are doing to support our members, but we also recognize that we’ve been asking a lot from you! Thanks for working with us as we roll out our programming that is designed and delivered to bring value to your membership and to support your success.
Stacey Brensrud

ADVOCACY.
Our Executive Director has been working hard and speaking up on behalf of Revelstoke. Our efforts have been rewarded, and our Chamber has been invited to sit at the table in several meetings.

MUNICIPAL.
We've been speaking with Council and Staff at the City of Revelstoke to gain insight into potential business interruption as a result of any future revitalization project at Grizzly Plaza. The Chamber aims to be a good partner in communications with the City to inform businesses of any plans and to advocate for measures to minimize disruption.

REGIONAL.
Our Chamber President and our Executive Director attended a regional conference to network with Chambers from the Kootenays. There were 13 Chambers in attendance to share ideas, align advocacy priorities, and share successes and challenges.
PROVINCIAL.
We continue to attend meetings with BC Government officials including the Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation. Some of the main issues that have been flagged and discussed include worker shortage, affordable and attainable housing, transportation in and out of rural communities.
FEDERAL.
Our Executive Director was selected by BC Chamber to attend a meeting with the Federal Commissioner of Employers to discuss federal business supports and EI reform.

PROPOSED BYLAW TO BAN SINGLE-USE PLASTICS AND OTHER ITEMS.
A second reading of the proposed Bylaw to ban Single-Use plastics and other items was brought to City Council on September 28.
The Bylaw is proposed to come into effect 6 months after Council's final adoption with an implementation period of 12 months after the bylaw comes into effect, to allow businesses to use up existing supplies and source new supplies. After the 12 month period, enforcement will consist of education and working with local businesses to support their compliance efforts.

We encourage you to get involved and visit the Talk Revelstoke website that discusses the bylaw in depth. Click here to learn more.
OUTREACH.

We are engaging with various sectors - Our session with Retailers saw attendance from 13 owners plus some staff members. We provided updates and discussed issues important to them to further action.
