Dear Friends and Members of the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce,

There’s a sense of renewal throughout Los Gatos: hillsides are alive with fresh blooms, birds are returning to our trees, and there is a bright energy in the air. Another sign of Spring is the return of our Chamber’s renowned Wine Walk on Saturday, April 26. Tickets do sell out, so buy your tickets now. The Wine Walk will return in its classic General Admission format, with the VIP Experience paused for 2025.

The application process for our Chamber Ambassador Program is now open! Ambassadors are a select group of members who champion the Chamber, help ensure our events’ success, mentor new members, and serve as an essential link to our business community. It is an outstanding leadership and networking opportunity for 12 members who are eager to make a meaningful impact.

Join us for our new Member 101 Program, which launches in the next few weeks. These sessions are open to new, current, and potential members, offering insights into our upcoming year of events and resources that we provide. We will help members understand how to leverage benefits, plan opportunities for engagement, and how to use the Chamber’s tools, including ChamberMaster and Slack.

By popular demand, our Taste of Los Gatos Street Festival returns on Saturday, September 6. Save the date as this year’s event will be an even bigger and better celebration of our town’s exceptional culinary scene, local wines, and community spirit.

I am proud to share the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Strategic Plan for 2025–27, recently approved by our Board of Directors. The Chamber is poised to champion economic and community vitality by focusing on the following five priorities: 1) Enhancing Member Value and Engagement, 2) Strengthening Operations, 3) Driving Workforce Development & Business Growth, 4) Advancing Town Vitality through Destination Marketing & Events, and 5) Providing Advocacy & Policy Leadership.

Advocacy Alert

Would you attend a Members-only presentation/Q&A with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce?

This event would provide updates on federal legislative and policy changes and how they impact businesses.

Town: Lawsuit Regarding State Housing

The Los Gatos Town Council recently made a significant decision affecting proposed housing developments in our community. Last week, the Town filed a “declaratory relief action” in Santa Clara County Superior Court, seeking to clarify its and property owners’ legal rights under state housing law. The dispute centers on how long developers have to submit missing information for a Builder’s Remedy application: the Town interprets the law as providing only one 90-day period following an initial 180-day deadline, while the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) views it as allowing multiple, successive 90-day periods. By pursuing this legal action, the Town aims to resolve the uncertainty, uphold its obligations under state law, and continue lawfully serving residents and property owners.

National: Tariffs Put U.S. Growth, Prosperity at Risk

Broad-based tariffs threaten America’s goal of achieving 3% annual economic growth by taxing the imported goods that many U.S. businesses rely on, driving up consumer prices (and thereby deterring consumer spending), and triggering retaliatory measures against American exports. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce instead urges the new Administration and Congress to negotiate trade agreements with allies and partners that remove barriers on a reciprocal basis, a proven approach to boosting exports, creating jobs, and preserving America’s competitive edge. By rejecting sweeping tariffs in favor of targeted measures and robust trade deals, the nation can better protect its workers, farmers, and businesses while fueling long-term prosperity.
