Local: Chamber Supports RH Gallery & Restaurant Project
The Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Board voted to support the Restoration Hardware Gallery & Restaurant at 31 University Ave. for its robust economic benefits—especially significant, ongoing sales-tax revenue—along with increased downtown foot traffic, new jobs, and a higher profile for Los Gatos as a retail, design, and dining destination. The project also revitalizes a long-idle downtown corner. We support updating the existing Planned Development to allow a cohesive façade that complements our historic downtown. This project comes before the Planning Commission on August 27, 2025. Read our official letter of support here.

National: Gas Prices Cool Inflation; Core Costs Still Firm, Questions over Data Quality
U.S. consumer prices rose 0.2% in July from June (2.7% year over year) as gas prices fell. But core prices—which exclude food and energy—rose 0.3% (3.1% year over year), driven by services like airfare and healthcare and some tariff-affected goods (furniture, footwear). The Bureau of Labor & Statistics paused some price collection in parts of the country and leaned more on estimates, raising concerns about data quality. A September Fed rate cut remains uncertain.
