National: December Rate Cut Eases Pressure as Markets Climb, but Signals Stay Mixed

On Dec. 11, the Federal Reserve cut borrowing costs again, bringing the benchmark rate down to about 3.6% — the lowest in nearly three years. The Fed also lowered its inflation outlook for next year, making it a little easier for businesses to plan and borrow. At the same time, U.S. markets are hovering near record highs. Even so, demand and hiring remain uneven. Local businesses may want to use the rate relief where it helps, while keeping an eye on credit conditions, staffing costs, and early-year sales trends. Local: Los Gatos Council Reorganization and Mayor Transition

On Dec. 9, the Town honored Mayor Hudes for his service and Rob Moore was sworn in as new Mayor during a standing-room-only ceremony at the Town Council Chambers, with the Chamber team onsite alongside strong community turnout. Mayor Moore outlined priorities that will guide the Town’s 2026 agenda, including housing, support for youth, seniors, and families, street safety and traffic, emergency preparedness, and overall community vitality.
