State/Regional: Bay Area and California Cities Raise Local Minimum Wages

A new round of local minimum wage increases took effect July 1 across several California and Bay Area cities, including Milpitas, Fremont, San Francisco, and Berkeley, continuing upward pressure on labor costs in regional markets. While Los Gatos does not have its own city minimum wage ordinance, neighboring increases often shape wage expectations and hiring competition across Santa Clara County. The changes are particularly relevant for restaurants, retail, hospitality, healthcare support, and service businesses, where labor remains one of the largest operating expenses. The Chamber is excited to share three featured guides: Teen Tested, highlighting favorite local spots chosen with input from Los Gatos teens; Outdoor Art of Los Gatos, showcasing murals, sculptures, and public art throughout town; and our newest addition, Sports & Recreation, featuring parks, trails, and active ways to enjoy everything Los Gatos has to offer.

More themed itineraries, including Pawsitively Los Gatos, are coming soon.

We look forward to seeing you at our next GOLD Thursday TONIGHT, July 2!

GOLD Thursdays is a monthly, business-led downtown community experience designed to encourage connection while supporting local businesses.

Stop by to enjoy complimentary face painting from 5 to 7 PM in the Automobuild breezeway and fresh-spun cotton candy (it's also organic and all natural) from 5 to 7 PM at Grays Lane or while supply lasts. Groove to the live music and an evening of strolling, shopping, dining, and connecting in downtown Los Gatos.

Taste of Los Gatos - Now Accepting Applications

Taste of Los Gatos returns Saturday, Sept. 19, from noon to 5:00 PM, bringing thousands downtown for an afternoon of food, wine, music, and community in a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly atmosphere.

Calling Downtown Merchants & Local Wineries!

Downtown Chamber merchants interested in hosting a winery and local wineries interested in pouring are also invited to apply. Space is limited and filling quickly, so interested participants should submit an application soon to be considered. Merchant hosts must be Chamber members in good standing.
