Local: Los Gatos Moves to 10-Year Police Technology Deal

The Los Gatos–Monte Sereno Police Department is proposing a 10-year, $2.79 million agreement with Axon to upgrade body cameras, in-car video, digital evidence storage, and future technology. The long-term contract replaces several shorter deals, locks in pricing, and aims to improve transparency, accountability, and response times. National: Shutdown Ends but Market Jitters Signal Ongoing Uncertainty

After a record 43-day shutdown, the federal government has reopened under a short-term funding deal that restores federal pay but only keeps agencies running into early 2026, setting up another possible budget fight. At the same time, Wall Street has slid, with AI and tech stocks leading a sharp drop as investors grow less confident that interest rates will fall soon. Together, the restart of government under a temporary deal, ongoing backlogs at federal agencies, and choppy markets point to a cooling but uncertain economy.
