National: Consumer Confidence Hits 6-Month Low; Job Worries Rise
Consumer confidence in the U.S. dropped to 94.6 in October, the lowest in six months, as concerns about job availability rose (job-market differential widened to 9.4 from 8.7 in September). Small businesses should expect softer discretionary demand, especially among lower-income shoppers. Stay cautious on hiring, tighten pricing discipline, and right-size inventory.
