Local: Park-it Market Comes to Los Gatos
West Valley Community Services has launched a free “Park-It Market” — a refrigerated van funded by a $180,000 Sutter Health grant — outside the Los Gatos Library (100 Villa Ave.) on the second and fourth Thursdays from 10:00–11:15 a.m., with no eligibility checks. WVCS expects this stop and its other routes to serve about 500 households; locally it already assists about 350 Los Gatos households. Advocates warn of an expected $186 billion reduction in federal food assistance over the next decade. Click here for more information.

National: Inflation Ticks Up, Job Market Softens
Inflation rose to 2.9% in August (core 3.1%) while jobless claims jumped to 263,000, putting the Fed in a bind ahead of next week’s meeting; some price pressure looks tariff-related and maybe temporary. Businesses should expect slightly higher costs and a cooler hiring climate—pace any price changes, lock in key supplies where it makes sense and be ready to review refinancing or credit lines if rate cuts materialize.
