Happy New Year! Welcome to 2022. I hope you had a restful and enjoyable holiday season. As I write this message, there are several themes that are relevant; return to work, return to school, Omicron, employee shortage, housing, supply chain, health care and this list could go on and on.
If you are anything like me, I look back at the past two years with happiness and exhaustion because of how resilient and nimble our workforces and organizations have been throughout this pandemic. It has truly been a rough ride, one which has changed so many lives. Read More....

Mayor Furey Addresses Police Accountability
Patrick J. Furey
Mayor, City of Torrance
To Our Business Partners-
The recent articles in the LA Times reported troubling allegations against Torrance police officers. However, the City of Torrance wants all members of the community alike to be reassured that the City does not condone any member under our employ that expresses or condones behavior inconsistent with our mission to serve everyone in the community with respect and dignity. We will not tolerate any form of bigotry, racism, hate, or misconduct. An internal investigation is being conducted and the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave. However, I also have to let you know that me and my colleagues on the City Council must be careful not to speak to or pre-judge allegations against individual officers because under the Torrance Municipal Code disciplinary appeals can end up being heard by the City Council. Here’s a breakdown of 11 of those new laws taking effect in 2022, most of which lawmakers approved in the last session (a few videos cover more than one new law on the same subject). Read More...
