As the season comes to an end, it has been a strange one.

With flowers blooming in December and the heat wave in March, no one knew what to expect. Gas prices and uncertainty in the world definitely slowed our tourism down, not just in Borrego but throughout California, Nevada and elsewhere.

I would like to thank everyone for a great farmer's market season, as always a few glitches along the way but overall the vendors were happy and all have agreed to be back in November, and many attending Borrego Days.

For me, work starts on the 26-27 visitor's guide, remember you must be a Chamber member in good standing to be included. I have already started on Borrego Days, confirming services and such, but there is so much more to do. Many are asking for vendor apps, those will be out in June, changes need to be made to the applications, as well as the sponsors applications.

We will be looking for volunteers, those notices will come out later.

Mixers will be resume in the new season with new locations.

The Chamber is open all summer, except for the customary closing in August.

Annual Hazardous Waste Removal

Anyone 65 years of age and older is provided one annual free home pickup of hazardous waste from the “Our One Earth” SD County Hazardous Waste Center at 877-713-2784 (if using a landline dial 1). For more information about what hazardous waste is, brochures are available at the Chamber.

Borrego Community Cleanup

Borrego's community clean-up is held the first Saturday of every month, commencing at The Circle and fanning out to nearby areas either on foot or by car to pick up litter. The Chamber provides the bags and pickers;

all you need to do is bring yourself.

Please note that beginning with the May clean-up, start time will be 8 a.m. Summer clean-ups are subject to change; call Marcy Yates, (760) 767-4287 for more information.
