September is almost here and that means Borrego Days is right around the corner. The Chamber reopens on September 1, where we have printed applications for sponsorship's, vendor booths and parade entries.
Remember the parade and car show are FREE to enter.
You'll also find downloadable forms below for all things Borrego Days that you can also fill out online.
Joy McBride will start contacting past volunteers and looking for new Borrego Days volunteers in early September. It's a lot of fun!
The summer months have been brutally hot and slow -visitor wise- across all of our desert regions, however we are getting calls for info about upcoming events, Chamber members, please send me your event info so our team has it on hand at the front desk.

BASIC Seeks Managing Director to Lead Programs, Fundraising
and Community Partnerships
BASIC (Basic Assistance for Students in the Community) is hiring a Managing
Director to lead programs, fundraising, operations, and community partnerships that
support education for students and families in Borrego Springs. This is a visible, hands-
on leadership role for someone who can build trust, get things done, and champion.
BASIC's C2G cradle to graduation mission.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with the Board to set priorities and support strong governance.
Manage general daily operations, including use of technology, tracking data and
written information, running meetings and supervision of a small staff.
Guide BASIC programs, including the Dolly Parton Imagination Library,
Learning Academy, and Scholarships.
Manage fundraising and communications (external and internal).
Build strong partnerships and serve as a trusted community ambassador.
Ideal Candidate
Bilingual in Spanish and English
Proactive, organized, and comfortable in our small community.
Strong communicator (written and verbal) and relationship-builder.
Leadership experience in nonprofits, fundraising, programs, administration,
education or community service.

Annual Hazardous Waste Removal
Anyone 65 years of age and older is provided one annual free home pickup of hazardous waste from the “Our One Earth” SD County Hazardous Waste Center at 877-713-2784 (if using a landline dial 1). For more information about what hazardous waste is, brochures are available at the Chamber.

Borrego Community Cleanup
Borrego's community clean-up is held the first Saturday of every month, commencing at The Circle and fanning out to nearby areas either on foot or by car to pick up litter. The Chamber provides the bags and pickers;
all you need to do is bring yourself.
The Community Clean-up will be on a summer hiatus during July and August. People can still pick up trash on their own schedules and in their neighborhoods, call Marcy Yates, (760) 767-4287 for more information.

Registrar Calls for Poll Workers Ahead of the Nov. 3 Election
The Registrar of Voters is calling on community members to sign up as poll workers for the Nov. 3
Gubernatorial General Election.
Poll workers are needed throughout the voting period, not just on Election Day. Vote centers operate for up to 11 days beginning Oct. 24, offering multiple options for shift coverage.
Benefits include:
• A daily stipend of $145 from Oct. 24 to Nov. 2
• $240 on Election Day due to expanded hours
• Additional pay for bilingual poll workers: $5 extra per day and $10 extra on Election Day
Poll workers must:
• Be a U.S. citizen registered to vote in California or a lawful permanent resident
• Have reliable transportation to and from the assigned vote center
• Complete two days of in-person training (paid a $95 daily stipend)
• Be available to work four or 11 days, including extended hours on Election Day
Poll workers open and close vote centers, assist voters, answer questions and complete stipend paperwork.
The Registrar is seeking team members with strong customer service skills, leadership, flexibility, patience, and integrity. All poll workers must serve in a professional and nonpartisan manner.
