TACC Convenes Hoteliers and Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi to Discuss AB1761
Hotel owners and general managers gathered yesterday at the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) to discuss AB1761 with Assembly member Al Muratsuchi, co-author of the bill.

AB1761 would require, among other things, that a hotel employer, as defined, provide its employees with a panic button, as specified, in order to summon assistance when working alone in the guest room. Read more...
Torrance Police Department Pychologist to Receive The Chief's Award
On Thursday, March 22nd, the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce will honor exemplary civilians as well as officers of the Torrance Police Department who have distinguished themselves through outstanding performance above and beyond the call of duty. We’d like to give you a preview of one such individual.
The Chief’s Award will be presented to Torrance Police Psychologist, Dr. Gina Gallivan. Dr. Gallivan has been assisting the Torrance Police Department with pre-employment psychological screening as well as with the department’s Trauma Support Team since 2009. Read More...
City of Torrance Releases Certified List of Qualified Candidates
Next Wednesday, March 28th, all candidates vying for elected positions with the City of Torrance will undergo ethics training. At 7:30am the following morning, candidates for Mayor and City Council will convene for a forum presented by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce.

The first forum held in Torrance surrounding the 2018 election, the event will kick-off with a continental breakfast and time for casual greetings before the forum begins at 8am. Candidates will be asked a series of questions, in a moderated panel format.

Today, the City Clerk's office released its certified list of qualified candidates; each of whom has been invited to participate in the March 29th event at the Nakano Theater.

New Workplace Safety Rules for Hotel Housekeepers Effective July 1
The Office of Administrative Law recently approved a new workplace safety and health regulation specific to housekeepers in the hotel and hospitality industry, which will become effective July 1, 2018. Cal/OSHA will enforce the new standard — the first ergonomic standard in the nation written specifically to protect hotel housekeepers from musculoskeletal injuries. Read More...
