SVP News from Sarah & Lee Rogers

The CA Joint Legislative Audit Committee members voted unanimously to approve the request to audit the contract let by the CA Department of State Hospitals for the Sexually Violent Predator Conditional Release Program (CONREP) operated by their exclusive contractor, Liberty Healthcare. Because the vote was unanimous for passage - that portends well for any next hurdles including approval by the governor.

Many thanks to those who signed Senator Brian Jones' petition to request the audit - 1,600 people signed. This petition and the weight of state-wide public opposition to the hidden placement practices of Liberty Healthcare to house Sexually Violent Predators in neighborhoods alerted legislators to the public perception that the SVP CONREP contract is faulty and likely mismanaged.

Because “it ain’t over til it’s over”, please visit Senator Jones’ website or send an email to his staff, thanking him for requesting the audit and getting the votes necessary for approval.
