Executive Directors Notes
By Franҫoise Rhodes

In the blink of an eye Samantha Brown and her film crew were in Borrego Springs the evening of June 13 staying at La Casa Del Zorro and the morning of June 14. With the help of Chamber Team Member George Thompson as lead driver and local information expert, along with Okie McNatt and the Under The Sun Foundation, Dennis Avery and his wonderful Galleta Meadows along with Borrego Springs lives on!
The episode is scheduled to air in January 2023 on the Discovery Channel.
I also want to thank Visit California who had the producer contact the Chamber to hear about our area. After the initial contact and the producer's enthusiasm I talked with the producer almost daily for a month to make this happen.
It all seems so simple;-) when you watch it on television.

Honorary C0-Mayors Message

Just because it seems quiet in town now doesn’t mean it’s really quiet!
Congratulations to our high school graduates, who are preparing to enter a new phase of life. Their pictures are in the center fold of this last week’s Borrego Sun. What a great group!
Our Borrego Springs community is stepping up to the plate once again. Most of us got the word of a proposed SVP placement (again!) in our town and have written letters. Sarah and Lee Rogers have spearheaded our fight against this pedophile placement. The hearing is July 8 at 10 a.m. in San Diego. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get 20 or more folks to show up at the hearing?
On another note… Jim and Anne Wermers, Martha Deichler and two high school
students are making arrangements for a trip to Mongolia in August. We’re hoping to
spend a few days in Khovd, our Borrego sister city. You might remember their visit to Borrego Springs in 2019 when they brought a large delegation to confirm our sister-city arrangement. We’re planning to take lots of pictures

We’ll see you around town. Stay cool.
Jim and Anne Wermers
Your Co-Mayors of Borrego Springs
