Donna Visits Red Apple Air
As a former second grade teacher, anything with 'red apple' in the title is intriguing to me. Arriving at Red Apple Air, Maria Zavalla and Misty Rivera, provided a warm welcome. Since 2004, Red Apple Air is an independently owned heating and air conditioning company that specializes in servicing, repairing, and installing a wide variety of HVAC makes and models. They are an insurance approved company, ensuring that their work meets the highest industry standards.
Red Apple Air's goal is to be a trustworthy HVAC service leader. "We’ll go the extra mile to earn the trust of business owners, homeowners and renters, and believe in providing the highest level of service in all areas of our expertise. Our craft is our pride, so leave your heating and air conditioning worries with pros who really care," shared Rivera. Read more...
Recap at Summer Break: Employment Bills Remain
A review of action on major employment-related legislation for business before the Legislature began its summer recess on July 6 shows both good and disappointing outcomes for the employer community.

On the plus side was the passage of a CalChamber-sponsored  job creator that enables businesses to avoid hiring repeat sexual harassment offenders AB 2770 (Irwin; D-Thousand Oaks)  codifies case law to ensure victims of sexual harassment and employers are not sued for defamation by the alleged harasser when a complaint of sexual harassment is made and the employer conducts its internal investigation.

In addition, strong opposition from the CalChamber and its coalitions of business/industry groups and local chambers of commerce helped stop several job killer bills or provided pressure to secure amendments removing the more onerous provisions of job killers and other CalChamber-opposed proposals.

Still, a number of employment-related job killers continue to move in the Legislature. Read more...

Why a Regional Power Grid Brings Energy Security
Reliable energy infrastructure is a hallmark of a modern world, and affordable power is vital for economic development and social cohesion. Ensuring that electricity is both affordable and reliable are ultimately the responsibility of our state government leaders when they set the ground rules for how electricity is generated and how it is transmitted around the grid.

California’s world-leading greenhouse gas reduction efforts have curbed the state’s carbon footprint, but have also resulted in more expensive electricity and greater challenges to utilities to maintain service reliability, issues of great concern to California businesses. Just as the Legislature has led the way in insisting that more of our electricity come from renewable sources, it must also have a plan to ensure that our electricity grid can deliver power when businesses and residents need it, at the most affordable rates possible.

That’s why business groups are encouraging the Legislature to approve legislation that could reshape the future of the state’s energy infrastructure and lower energy costs for consumers and businesses.
