Go For Broke Holds 16th Annual 'Evening of Aloha' Gala
This past Saturday evening I had the opportunity to attend the 16 th annual “Evening of Aloha” gala dinner at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. As a guest of Jennifer Olvera, Green Hills Memorial Park, I learned so much about the Go for Broke National Education Center and the Nigei veterans of World War II who demonstrated undeniable courage in upholding America’s promise – the promise that all individuals are to be treated equally.

The Japanese American Soldiers of WWII proved their loyalty through the sacrifices they made in service to their country, the United States. For its size and length of service, the 100 th Infantry Battalion and the 442 nd Regimental Combat Team was the most decorated US military unit. The evening was filled with celebration and recognition of George Takei and Bill Seki for their numerous contributions.

Oberholzer Honored at Annual State of the City Event
Last Friday, the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce had the pleasure of presenting its 2017 Distinguished Citizen of the Year award to Bill Oberholzer of Preferred Bank in front of a sold out room of more than 330 people. Thank you to previous Citizen of the Year Kirk Rossberg of Torrance Bakery for introducing Bill and presenting him with this year's honor.

The event would not have been possible without the support of presenting sponsor Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center-Torrance and the contributions of: California Water Service, American Honda, Continental Development Corporation, Torrance Refining Company, Ganahl Lumber Company-South Bay, Green Hills Memorial Park, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Arconic Fastening Systems & Rings, El Camino College, The Red Car Brewery & Restaurant, Torrance Bakery, the Daily Breeze and the DoubleTree by Hilton Torrance-South Bay.

Additionally, the TACC would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the City of Torrance and Mayor Patrick J. Furey for a great address and plenty of teasers to keep us all on our toes over the coming months.
