Leadership Torrance, established in 1983, is a program that provides enhanced leadership skills, an in-depth understanding of community issues, meaningful connections, collaborative project experiences, and personal and professional growth. A feature will be included in Chamber Weekly that will highlight a Leadership Torrance alumnus. Today’s emphasis is Dawn Salvatore, General Manager at Moog, Inc.

1. Where were you in your career right before joining Leadership Torrance? In 2017 I was the Quality Manager at Moog, responsible for ~45 people.

2. Where are you in your career and life now? Today, I am the General Manager at Moog, responsible for ~450 people.

3. What insight or benefit of Leadership Torrance do you value most? The insiders view of Torrance and surrounding County and State Government and the contacts made that have helped me with growth in my career.

Supporting Local, Thriving Together: Torrance's Small Business Week

Since 2010, Small Business Saturday has become a nationwide tradition, taking place on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce has extended the excitement with our very own "Torrance Small Business Week”, and we want you to be involved! This year’s Small Business Week starts on Saturday, November 25th, and ends on Saturday, December 2nd. Shopping small helps make a big difference to the community, small businesses, and the people who keep them running.

"Paul's photo is a Torrance small business, family-owned for over 60 years, and we are the ones who pay for the police, fire, and the schools through your sales when you buy here at a small business. If none of us shopped here in Torrance, the city wouldn't have money to finance those things. Plus, you are supporting your neighbors. My kids live next door to your kids, and we have fun together, we play soccer together, and we go to the beach together because we are a small business and family working and living in Torrance and supporting Torrance together," emphasized Mark Comon, owner of Paul's Photo, highlighting the importance of supporting locally owned small businesses. Navigating the Economic Landscape: Torrance Chamber’s Economic Outlook 2023

The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce recently hosted the Economic Outlook 2023 Event at The George Nakano Theater, featuring three notable speakers who shared valuable insights into the local, state, and national economy.

Oscar Wei, Deputy Chief Economist at the California Association of Realtors, discussed the potential effects of a government shutdown on the economy, the impact of school loan payments, and global economic trends. He also touched on how labor strikes could influence inflation and expressed his view that inflation will gradually subside.
