Donna Visits Lifelong Friends
I have always said that one of the most rewarding parts of my job is the people I meet each and every day. This past week I was invited to attend a retirement celebration for two Moog Aircraft Group employees; Pam Kenoyer with 45 years at Moog Aircraft Group and Greg Walborn with 47 years at Moog Aircraft Group. I have known both Pam and Greg for a number of years through their involvement in the chamber.  

Greg was a senior engineering manager at Moog and Pam was extremely involved with community relations including Tech Trek and the chamber's adopt-a-school and business for a day programs. Read More...

Torrance Chamber Recognized as One of Region's Top Business Advocates
The Business Federation of Los Angles County (BizFed) launched its inaugural Business Makes LA County Work Awards last Friday. An award was presented to one business or business organization, plus one elected or appointed official, in each of the county's five supervisorial districts. The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce received the Bizzi Award for the 4th Supervisorial District. BizFed is a grassroots advocacy nonprofit that speaks for 215 business groups representing 410,000 companies employing 5 million people across Los Angeles County. Nominees were vetted by BizFed leaders within deep roots in districts who represent massive network of association members and top-level investors.  

The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce was presented the Bizzi award for the multiple roundtables they hosted this past year to connect members with high-level intel about strengthening restaurants, nonprofits, small businesses, large businesses, health care organizations, and more. The Chamber also participated in American Small Business Week to champion small enterprise owners who drive our economy. The Chamber's active advocacy, PPE donations, signature events with elected officials, and monthly Government Affairs meetings have connected countless community members with the resources and intel they needed to thrive. Manufacturing Tax Credit Proposal Moves Forward
A California Chamber of Commerce-supported bill that will invest in the next generation of manufacturing by expanding tax credits passed the Assembly floor a few weeks ago. The proposal was approved by the Assembly with a bipartisan 74-0 vote and now moves to the Senate for consideration.

The bill, AB 1951 (Grayson; D-Concord), expands investment and production in California by expanding the sales and use tax exemption for the purchase of manufacturing, and research and development (R&D) equipment. Read More...
5 Job Killers Still Active Ahead of Policy Committee Deadline
Five California Chamber of Commerce job killer bills await action in the California Legislature this week as Friday marks the last day that policy committees can meet and report bills. At the close of Friday’s session, legislators will head home for summer recess and will reconvene on August 1.

Go-Biz Directory of Funding Opportunities
The Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development also known as Go-Biz serves as California's single point of contact for business, economic development, and job creation efforts. Go-Biz posted their California Business Comeback Guide, an index of all current and forecasted state incentive programs for businesses both for recovery and for success. Check it out on their website under the Incentives Grants and Financing page or click the link below.
Chamber Celebrates Impact Award Honorees
The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce recently held its Installation and Impact Awards. The event recognized businesses and individuals for their commitment to the Torrance community. This years J. Walker Owens Volunteerism Award was presented to Andrea Sala from El Camino College for demonstrating a selfless approach to volunteerism and dedication to the mission and goals of the Chamber.
