The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Policy group has voted
to take positions on three ballot measures appearing on California’s upcoming
November election. The list below shows the chamber’s position on each ballot
measure.
Proposition 2: Authorizes Bonds for Public School and Community College Facilities. –
Support.
Proposition 32: Raises Minimum Wage. – Oppose
Proposition 36: Allows Felony Charges and Increases Sentences for Certain Drug and
Theft Crimes. - Support

The Torrance Chamber has joined several coalitions and sent letters of opposition to ABX2-1. Policy experts have closely studied Governor Gavin Newsom's proposal to impose a minimum supply mandate on refineries. The proposal, introduced as ABX2- 1, would create artificial fuel shortages in California, Arizona, and Nevada by forcing refiners to withhold fuels from the market, driving up costs for consumers. Torrance Chamber Attends CalChamber Board meeting | |
Donna Duperron was invited to attend the recent CalChamber Board of Directors Reception and Dinner in Anaheim. In addition to board members, area legislators, international partners and local business allies were present.
Ashlee Rich Stephenson, US Chamber's Senior Political Strategist, was the keynote speaker. Stephenson advises the Chamber's political programming, which includes voter education and advocacy, candidate endorsements, and the US Chamber PAC. She also helps develop and execute external issue advocacy campaigns to support the Chamber's policy and legislative priorities.

Last Thursday, Donna Duperron was sworn in as an Honorary Commander for Space Base Delta 3. Duperron has been assigned to Colonel Elisabeth K. White, the Military Deputy for International Affairs, Space Systems Command, Los Angeles AFB.
As an Honorary Commander in this two-year program, Duperron will learn more intricate details of Colonel White's mission and how they can collaborate on initiatives and share ideas.
Colonel White is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in driving innovative partnerships with Allies, Inter-Agencies, and Industry to build a joint robust and resilient military space enterprise that is “Allied by Design.” She leads the 75-member international affairs organization charged with developing and executing space foreign military sales and shaping the use of armaments corporations to set the conditions for allied inclusive space architecture in accordance with Department and Service strategic guidance.
