A Message from the Chairwoman of the Board

Dear Chamber Members,

I love this time of the year, don’t you! Andy Williams sings it for all of us, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”! Filled with the nostalgic smell of pine and cinnamon gingerbread, joyous laughter, pious prayers, and the warmth of selfless giving!

There is a lot to be grateful for this year, just like every year, even the pandemic years! We as Torrance Area business community persevered, self-innovated and came out stronger than before! Torrance Chamber had many events in last few months to connect businesses and there are so many more planned for coming spring. We would love if you can stop by and say hi.

On behalf of Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for making this community a shining success. Thank you to all the front line workers, police and fire and service members for keeping us safe. Thank you to our business members who continue to help each other. And thank you to our Chamber President Donna and her staff, our Board of Directors and Ambassadors for their enthusiastic support!

So, from our Family to Yours, we wish you Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays! Let us ring the brand-New Year 2023 with bright lights of dreams and aspirations for reaching new heights!

And don’t forget to leave those cookies and milk out, you know HE’s coming!!

Voters' Unease on Crime, Homelessness Colors Views of Future

CalChamber recently reported on voters’ concerns about the economy and the state’s business climate. Based on the their poll’s findings, it is safe to say that economic concerns are at the root of voter anxiety in California. But fears about the breakdown of civil order in areas like crime and homelessness also are contributing to voters’ unease about the how their future might unfold in California.

Californians are pessimistic about the direction of the country, with 62% saying it’s headed down the wrong track, and only 38% saying the United States is headed in the right direction. Voters are split on California, however, with a slight majority (52%) saying the state is headed in the right direction. Read More...

Drought Relief Top Priority for Voters;

Climate Change Costs Also Concern

Earlier reports examined voters’ anxieties about the economy, the state’s business climate, and crime. Voters also have strong opinions about issues that affect their lifestyles and pocketbooks.

Along with the economy, top-of-mind for voters is the drought. By a 4 to 1 margin, voters say the drought represents the new reality for California, as opposed to a short-term problem.
