Remarkable Teens - Do You Know One

The San Diego County Public Defender is looking for the community’s help in identifying the region’s most remarkable young people for this year’s third annual installment of the “25 Most Remarkable Teens in San Diego” program.
Initiated in 2019, the program highlights youths ages 13 through 19 who are phenomenal at something they do. Some of the categories for this year’s awards include community service, leadership, writing, art, innovation and the courage to overcome adversity.

Nominations must be completed and submitted no later than Sept. 21. The form can be emailed to [email protected] or can be mailed to Connie Howard, San Diego County Public Defender Youth Council, 451 A St., Suite 1480, San Diego, CA 92101.

The nomination form and list of award categories are available here.

Rental Assistance for Small Landlords
The first program will provide payments to landlords with rental properties whose tenants are late on their rent. The Rental Assistance for Small Landlord Program will compensate landlords or property owners for overdue rent payments accumulated since April 2020.
Recipients must meet several criteria, including the following:
  • The property must be located in San Diego County and the owner must be a county resident
  • The landlord must own no more than five rental units
  • Tenants in eligible units must be at least three months past due on their rent
The County will pay benefits directly to the landlord and applications will be accepted until funding runs out. The application period opens Sept. 1.
