Kings Hawaiian, Virco Manufacturing Corporation and Rock-ola recently hosted students from the LEAD program for Corporate Day. Students toured each business and had the opportunity to learn about the occupations within that business. Appreciation is extended to Gio Nunez of Kings Hawaiian, Ken Urban of Rock-ola and Jerry Farrell of Virco Manufacturing Corporation for organizing the visits to their businesses. Appreciation is also extended to Leslie Cortez, City of Torrance and Bill Samp, City of Torrance (retired) for serving as co-chairs of the LEAD program.
LEAD (Leadership, Exploration and Development is a highly interactive program to acquaint sophomore students with community needs, opportunities, challenges and resources. Student will learn to develop leadership, communication and team building skills. It will afford the opportunity to interact with fellow students, community leaders and decision makers. The goal with this program is to also introduce students to emerging career opportunities by meeting and working with a variety of professionals to discover what it takes to reach their goals and acquire some of the skills needed to get there.
