CHAMBER RELEASES POSITIONS ON NOVEMBER PROPOSITIONS
 
The Oxnard Chamber Board of Directors has taken positions on six of the propositions that will appear on the November 6 ballot. The Board limits its review of the ballot measures that affect businesses in the state of California. Here are the positions for this year:

BASUA AND LOPEZ JOIN OPLINGER AS CHAMBER-ENDORSED COUNCIL CANDIDATES

The Chamber's Political Action Committee recently announced two additional city council candidate endorsements. Gabriela Basua and Vianey Lopez are running in districts 5 and 6, respectively. The PAC scrutinized their written questionnaire responses and interviewed both as well.

The Oxnard Business Outlook is an annual program of the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce. Each year we look at a different segment of the economy that is integral to our business community. In the past couple of years, we have focused on healthcare and tourism. In 2018 we are taking a look at politics and “What just happened on November 6, 2018?” A general election campaign debriefing.

5 THINGS WE DID FOR YOU IN THE PAST WEEK
1.Hosted SCORE in our conference room so they could provide no-cost business consulting services to new and growing companies.

2.Had an OXYP (Young Professionals) committee meeting where they discussed the end of the year mixer!

3.Featured the Port of Hueneme at the Knowledge & Networking lunch – they are a great economic engine for Oxnard and Ventura County!

4.Met with a business having challenges with some proposed local wastewater restrictions.

5.Had a Business Advocacy Committee where Oxnard’s traffic engineer provided an update on the ITS (Intelligent Traffic System).

CalChamber Urges Members to Register to Vote for November Election
The California Chamber of Commerce is urging its members to register to vote for the November 6 General Election before the October 22 deadline.

An  online link to register is available at  www.calchambervotes.com. Voter registration information is available at the website of the  Secretary of State.

The last day to register to vote for the November 6 election is October 22. To register to vote, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age, a resident of California, not in prison or on parole for the conviction of a felony, and have not been judged by a court to be mentally incompetent to register and vote.
