The Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce announces the formation of a new committee that will be focused on reviewing local government and its ability to achieve the various ambitions of the Tallahassee/Leon County community. The committee will be seated for 120 days beginning with its first meeting that was held this morning.
Committee members have been appointed by the Chair and Chair-Elect of the Chamber Board of Directors. Members of the committee were selected based on the merits of their careers as leaders in their respective fields and in the community.
The committee is comprised of nine members hailing from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Members of the committee include the following individuals:

Dr. Carol Weissert - Director, Leroy Collins Institute, Florida State University
The committee is tasked with having critical discussions and debates regarding the state of the Tallahassee/Leon County community and what its future may hold. At the end of the 120 days, the committee will deliver a final report to the Chamber that addresses the following items:
- Articulating a desired vision and related priorities for economic and community development, and overall community image and culture for 2030;
- Addressing community assets, institutions and structures currently available to pursue that vision;
- Identifying barriers and challenges to achieving the vision;
- Discussing various options for addressing the barriers and challenges;
- Developing suggestions/recommendations on next steps to carry the conversation community-wide.
The committee will be staffed by Jeff Hendry, Executive Director of the Florida Institute of Government in partnership with the Chamber. Stay tuned for the report that will be made public later this year.
