HAGÅTÑA, GUAM -- The Guam Chamber of Commerce announced today that its Business Recovery Summit and Expo is scheduled on Friday, July 7, 2023 at the Grand Ballroom, Hyatt Regency Guam from 8:30 - 4:00 p.m. This Summit will provide businesses and industries with updates from various sectors of our economy to plan and forecast for the future in light of the state of the island after Typhoon Mawar. Small business owners, managers, and companies interested in making connections with industry specific professionals and acquiring strategic partners are encouraged to attend this event.
There will be four (4) panels and a Motivation Segment featuring industry experts in their respective fields. The Summit will begin with remarks from Congressman James Moylan regarding his efforts on bringing recovery assistance to Guam. The Summit Agenda is as follows:
The "Economic Recovery Panel" will panel will feature:
· Gary Hiles, Department of Labor: State of Guam’s Economy Post-Typhoon Mawar and Forecast for Recovery
· Ho Eun, Core Tech International: State of Guam’s Construction Industry & Challenges for Recovery
· Siska Hutapea, Cornerstone Valuation Group: The Real Estate Industry After the Storm
· Gerald Perez, Guam Visitors Bureau: Typhoon Impact on the Visitor Industry and What the Forecast is for Recovery
The “Telecommunications Update Panel” will feature Roderick Boss of Docomo Pacific and Jim Oehlerking, PTI Pacifica, Inc. dba: IT&E and an update from GTA.
A 30-minute motivational segment will be presented by Jerry Roberts of Guam Training on the topic “Hit the Reset Button”.
The“Utilities Panel Update” will feature John Benavente of Guam Power Authority and Miguel Bordallo of Guam Waterworks, and; Ginger Cruz and Simon Sanchez on long-term solutions to further hardening our infrastructure.
To wrap up the event, the “Industry Recovery Panel” will feature James Martinez of Guam Contractors Association, Mary Rhodes of Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association, and Juan Flores of Department of Labor.
The Summit Panel sessions are scheduled to take place from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Guam's Grand Ballroom. Doors will open at 8:15 a.m. Seating is limited, and RSVPs are required.
The tabletop expo will feature over 20 companies and organizations from various industries in the private sector plus local and federal government offices that provide support and resources. The exhibition portion of the event will feature representatives from various industries and government support services that will provide one-on-one assistance for businesses in their recovery efforts and answer inquiries and questions. There is no fee for this event.
