Local Entrepreneurs Open Kitchen Tune-Up in Bethesda, Potomac, and Gaithersburg

WEEKLY RECAP

Last week our NextExecs' Group hosted their 2nd Annual Family Feud Game Night to help raise money for the Chamber's Goodwill Dinner Coalition. This year's sponsors, WithumSmith+Brown, PC and Snyder Cohn, CPAs gathered their teams together along with other GBCC members to play for the win.

This year team Withum took home the winning title and bragging rights for a year with a final score of 1,166 to 902. That leaves GBCC-1 and Withum-1, but who will win next year? Only time will tell.

Thanks to all our players and audience members, the group successfully raised $500.00 to go towards purchasing hats, gloves, & scarves for local families in need.

“If the labor market weakens, older workers will be among the hardest hit,” predicts Chris Farrell in MarketWatch.

“Employers have certain biases about older workers,” says Carl Van Horn, director at the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University. “They aren’t tech savvy—wrong. They cost more with healthcare—wrong. They don’t deal well with younger workers—wrong.”

Farrell notes that “with the aging of the workforce, institutions geared toward helping people find work should invest in developing approaches that better prevent older workers from falling into the ranks of the long-term unemployed.”
