NEXT EXECS' SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE

Join the NextExecs in our 2nd Annual Backpack & School Supply Drive to benefit MCPS students, grade K-12. From now through August 11th we are calling on all our GBCC members and community partners to help ensure our students are prepared for a successful school term when they return in the Fall. Some of our members last year held their own internal school supply drive and had the items delivered to our GBCC office in downtown Bethesda. Others supported the drive financially by donating money via our Chamber’s Venmo account or by sending a check payable to Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce. Please enter #mcpsbackpackdrive23 in the memo line. All levels of support are greatly appreciated, and we will also be calling on volunteers to fill the backpacks and make the drop offs to area schools. Last year we filled over 300 backpacks and this year our goal is to fill at least 500, can we count you to help us reach that goal?

“The 2023 Retirement Confidence Survey from the Employee Benefit Research Institute found that 1 in 5 Americans had less than $1,000 in savings and that retirement confidence had dropped by the most since 2008.” Moreover, Prudential Financial found that only 19% of Gen Xers, who are now 43 to 58 years old, believe they will ever know a traditional retirement “that involves leaving their jobs and enjoying their golden years.” This latter point might be a positive, says Beth Pinsker in MarketWatch because a long work life provides additional opportunities to save.
