GBCC NEWS

"OFF THE CLOCK" NETWORKING HAPPY HOUR

November's "Off the Clock" Networking Happy Hour was another wonderful success, thanks to our members! We are grateful to Westfield Montgomery for being our fantastic host for the event in their Jingle Lounge featuring wine and boards from Windridge Vineyards, and pizza from Frank Pepe's. We also appreciate every member who joined us to connect - we saw a wonderful mix of long-time and newly-minted members, all creating better business, stronger community in Bethesda and beyond!

MEMBERSHIP NETWORKING COMMITTEE WALKAROUND

The Membership Networking Committee hosted in a "Business Walkaround" this past Wednesday, visiting the business of North Bethesda near Parklawn Drive to say "Thank you" for choosing to be in business here, and to let them know that The Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce is a resource. Walkaround participants then enjoyed a fantastic happy hour with GBCC member Chef Tony at his Amalfi location.

Please join us for our Membership Networking Committee meeting TODAY (11/21) at 9:00am in the Chamber's Boardroom to learn more about how you can be a champion for Chamber Membership.

NOURISHING BETHESDA THANKSGIVING GIVE AWAY

GBCC Staff had the honor of serving at Nourishing Bethesda's Thanksgiving Giveaway event along with Council President Glass, Council Vice President Friedman, and representatives from Councilmember Kats' Office, St. John's Norwood, Bethesda Chevy Chase Regional Services, Sunrise Senior Living Bethesda, Simply Fresh, and many other community volunteers. Nourishing Bethesda supports over 650 clients weekly, providing fresh vegetables, meats and staples.

GBCC's Goodwill Coalition is currently fundraising to support Nourishing Bethesda's December Holiday Giving - please donate to help us reach our goal of providing grocery gift cards to each of Nourishing Bethesda's Clients and support the GBCC NextExecs in their drive to collect hats, gloves, scarves and socks to offer NB clients some

holiday warmth.

Ken Smith at Sandler Training is having a powerful, live online session on December 7, 2023, and we have arranged for this to be offered complimentary to members and guests of the Greater Bethesda Chamber.

The session, “Get On The Right Path In 2024 To Achieve Your Goals,” is a fresh new approach to your goals, to get different results, and to finally achieve the things you want most. This will provide a proven, step-by-step process to leverage your core values to achieve your goals. For information and registration, you can go to www.TheRightPath2024.online

Writing for Chief Executive, Kellie Walenciak presents this four-point “Ageism Action Plan”:

1. Educate about bias.

2. Include age in diverse hiring strategies.

3. Self-reflect and take personal accountability.

4. Utilize reverse-mentoring programs.

At https://chiefexecutive.net/the-future-is-ageless-how-to-end-ageism-in-the-workplace, she provides additional how-to advice. She also notes that “ageism may not affect you today, but give it a decade. It’s a battle we’re all destined to fight, so let’s arm ourselves with understanding and empathy and win it together.”
