Seasons Greetings!

As we approach the end of the fall semester, we reflect on the journey we have taken with your families these past four months. It is has been our pleasure to inform you and answer your questions throughout the discernment process. Many of you have taken the leap to apply for the 2020-2021 school year, and we look forward to seeing you at the Entrance Exam on January 18 and your Family Interview in February.

Our Christmas break begins on December 19 and will continue until January 6. We will be checking email periodically throughout that time.

While we are away from the office, the best way to familiarize yourself with the admissions process is to click here for more information.

If you would like to apply, please visit the applicant portal. And if you are an applicant, please use our checklist tracker to monitor the status of your application.

Wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas,

Mary Guerra & Annikki Lotta
Chaminade Admissions Team

On Tuesday, November 26, our Chaminade family celebrated our annual Thanksgiving Grandparents Mass. Over 400 grandparents attended this special event, honoring the treasured relationships between grandchildren and grandparents. The Mass included a poignant reflection by our President Rob Webb, a liturgical dance by our Eagle Dance Team, a blessing over all grandparents, and a closing reception with memorable photo opportunities. This Mass is one of our fondest ways to celebrate Chaminade's family spirit and to give thanks in this season.

Celebrating Leadership
Each year we relish in the fact that over 200 students volunteer their Sunday morning to represent Chaminade as actors, musicians, dancers, creators, and tour guides. Our Open House is not only an Admissions event, but an example of Chaminade in action and how Family Spirit is lived out by our Student Body, as well as by our Faculty and Staff. If you were able to attend, we hope this event exemplified how we inspire our students to love, learn and lead through our Catholic, Marianist tradition.

The “maker mindset” has been activated by students using their free time to work in two newly equipped creation spaces. Traditional building and crafting techniques are supercharged by technology to develop design thinking skills and to unleash student imaginations. “If they can dream it, they can make it” says robotics and programming teacher Pauline Breeden, “and if they can’t dream it, I can help them.”
Big Wins
in Fall Sports

Chaminade completed a successful Fall Sports season with several teams advancing to playoffs. The boy’s 6 th grade flag football captured the San Fernando Valley Private School League title, and the boys’ cross-country team repeated as Delphic League Champions. The girls 8 th grade volleyball team went on to complete an unprecedented, undefeated, three year run, in Delphic League play. Go Eagles!
Cocoa and Cram
Cocoa and Cram is an event held every year through the National Junior Honors Society (NJHS) Leadership Team. Students and teachers are invited to the Student Center one day after school to study for final exams. Delicious hot cocoa and cookies are offered to those who eagerly come to prepare for their upcoming finals. Students can participate in groups and ask any of the teachers in attendance for help. This special event has become a popular tradition over the years.
Faculty Spotlight

Drama Director
Mike Russ
Drama Director Mike Russ brought in the Christmas spirit to packed audiences in the Father Allen Delong Center for Arts and Athletics with Elf, The Musical , put on by our middle school Drama Department. The comedic adaptation of the Will Ferrell movie featured strong performances by leads Eliska Gravely (Buddy) and Sophia Helzner (Jovie). Cast members, stage and tech crews did outstanding jobs, along with the talents and hard work of our Drama team and Physical Plant specialists, who proved that dedication and collaboration between cast and crew members brought forth a stellar production and joy to all.
We look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
