The scores are in, and we have something to celebrate!

Find out how Compass measured up to competing Memphis schools.

For the first time, we see the effects of a full year of learning as evident through our TVAAS scores. And we are thrilled to share the great news with YOU.

2 Compass Schools scored a 4, and 4 Compass Schools scored a 5, which is the highest distinction based on TVAAS composite scores.

The Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System (TVAAS) measures students’ academic growth over time. The state looks at the data and rates schools from 1 to 5. A Level 5 composite means we successfully move students toward proficiency and beyond. Significant growth, as characterized by a Level 5, means our students are rebounding from the negative impacts of the pandemic, our teachers are effectively helping students to reach academic goals, and our curriculum plan is getting results.

2 Compass Community Schools also earned the esteemed designation of Reward schools by the State of Tennessee.

Reward schools are schools that improve overall student academic achievement and growth for all student groups. The Reward designation is the highest honor schools can earn when evaluated via the state’s accountability model. Each area of accountability is scored on a scale of 0.0 to 4.0. Reward Schools have earned an overall weighted average of all indicators of 3.1 or higher. Only 61 schools in the district earned this honor, and only 13 were charter schools.

State test scores (TCAP) show Compass scored higher than Memphis Shelby County Schools

(MSCS) and other Memphis Shelby County Charter Schools (MSCCS) in terms of student proficiency rates in English and Social Studies. In Math, Compass scored neck and neck with MSCS and well above all other Memphis Charter Schools. We are proud of these honors because it affirms that our strategies and teachers are helping students make academic gains.

Thanks for being a massive part of these successes.

Because of you, we continue to provide our students with the academic and social-emotional support they need to succeed in and out of the classroom. Our students are rebounding from the negative impacts of the pandemic, and our teachers are effectively helping students reach academic goals - and it’s all thanks to YOU.

The hard work is paying off, but more growth must be made. Support us in that growth. A gift of $25, $50, or even $100 or more will support student success in the classroom.

Invest in Compass and invest in Memphis.
