Developing and maintaining focus during practice and competition is an essential part of any athlete's ability to maximize performance. As coaches, this can also be one of our most difficult tasks. Young athletes can be easily distracted by thoughts, events or interactions that draw their attention away from the task at hand. From teammates to opponents, parents to school, to a pandemic that affects when and how they play sports, it can be difficult to maintain focus in the midst of so much noise and the pressure to keep going despite challenging circumstances.
